Premier Oil Proposes Former Alcoa Director Jeremiah As Non-Executive

7th Mar 2019 18:11

LONDON (Alliance News) - Premier Oil PLC on Thursday said it will propose the election of Barbara Jeremiah as an independent non-executive director at its annual general meeting on May 16.

The oil company said Jeremiah spent her executive career with the aluminium producer Alcoa Inc, where she worked in the legal department before becoming executive vice president of Corporate Development.

Premier Oil said it plans for Jeremiah to succeed Jane Hinkley as chair of the company's Remuneration Committee, following a short transition period.

Meanwhile, Hinkley intends to stand for re-election as a director of the company at the annual general meeting and, subject to re-election, will remain a director and a member of the Remuneration Committee. It is Hinkley's intention to stand down as a director at the end of 2019.

"I am delighted that we are recommending Barbara for election at the annual general meeting," said Chair Roy Franklin.

"She brings with her a wealth of strategic and commercial experience obtained in the strongly cyclical environment of the resources sector, which will enable her, if elected, to make a valuable contribution to our board and as chair of our Remuneration Committee," added Franklin.

Premier Oil shares closed 7.6% higher on Thursday at 79.50 pence each.
