LONDON (Alliance News) - Premier African Minerals Ltd Friday said the initial grades that have been identified at the Zulu lithium and tantalum project in Zimbabwe are in line with the company's exploration data, as it continues to analyse the geology to further develop the resource model.
The mienr undertook a mini-bulk sampling programme at Zulu in late 2015, collecting three composite samples, each weighing between 250 and 285 kilogrammes in the respective pegmatites zones; petalite, spodumene-lepidolite at surface and in spodumene-lepidolite in the exploration adit.
The samples were shipped to Germany for testing and flow sheet development, and the initial results were expected in June.
The initial results have now been secured from Dorfner Analysenzentrum und Anlagenplanungsgesellschaft mbH in Germany, showing the spodumene/lepidolite ore sample taken from the exploration adit had grades of around 1.55% lithium oxide.
The petalite ore sample returned grades of 1.23% lithium oxide.
The work being undertaken in Germany is assisting with progression toward production of marketable spodumene and petalite concentrates, both of which are in demand as much in the ceramics and glass industries and as a source for low impurity lithium, the company said.
"Premier is now concentrating efforts to better understand the complexities of this substantial multi-phase pegmatite and further develop the resource model. Premier is in preliminary discussions with parties interested in participating in Lithium resource development in Zimbabwe. I will update the market in due course," said Chief Executive George Roach.
Premier shares were up 3.9% to 0.728 pence per share on Friday morning.
