LONDON (Alliance News) - Premier African Minerals Ltd on Monday said it has completed drilling the first two holes of its 20-hole programme on the Zulu lithium project in Zimbabwe, finding mineralisation as it expected.
The miner said "significant" massive visible spodumene petalite lithium mineralisation was intersected in both holes and the results were in line with its own geological models. Hole ZDD14 intersected 14.0 metres of mineralisation and hole ZDD16 intersected 18.0 metres of mineralisation.
The mineralisation in hole ZDD14 was found between 11 metres and 46.0 metres downhole whereas the mineralisation at hole ZDD16 was intersected from 18.0 metres to 58.0 metres downhole.
The first drill core has been logged and sample preparation is now underway, it said.
"It is very encouraging that we continue to intersect visible hard rock lithium mineralisation from near surface to depth as predicted in our geological model. The extent and hardness of the mineralisation has contributed to a slower drilling rate than originally anticipated and a second rig has been deployed and commences operation today to expedite this drilling programme," said Chief Executive George Roach.
"Sample preparation is progressing at our in-house facilities at RHA and granting of export permits for shipment of samples is underway. We will report assay results as they come to hand," he added.
Premier African shares were trading up 6.7% to 0.400 pence per share on Monday morning.
