LONDON (Alliance News) - Powerhouse Energy Group PLC Tuesday said that waste-to-energy tests by its subsidiary Pyromex AG are continuing successfully in Switzerland.
The alternative-energy company, specialising in the sale of waste-to-energy systems, said the number of customer enquiries to view the five-tonne-per-day waste-to-energy unit in Schwartzenbach, Switzerland has risen significantly since testing began.
Powerhouse said that the initial phase of testing, which includes thermal cycling and the continuous feed of multiple feed stocks, has produced high-quality synthesis gas and shows considerable promise towards future commercialisation.
Synthesis gas is a fuel-gas mixture made primarily of hydrogen, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide, which is used for producing ammonia or methanol, along with a synthetic petroleum for internal combustion engines.
The company said it is seeking to obtain full EU compliance for the 5-tonne-per-day unit, which it expects to achieve in the next 30 days.
It said commercial delivery from the Schwartzenbach site is expected in early 2014.
Powerhouse shares were up 5.2% to 3.55 pence Tuesday.
