(Alliance News) - Power Metal Resources PLC on Wednesday said it will dig 24 pits at its Kisinka copper-cobalt project in Lubumbashi, Congo, as part of a follow-up programme.
The metals explorer identified a large copper anomaly at the site in 2019 when it carried out a programme of 663 termite mound samples on a 400 metre by 200 metre grid.
On Wednesday, Power Metal said that it has hired Minex Consulting SA to carry out a follow-up programme that will see the company dig 24 pits totalling around 230 metres on nine cross-sections across the target area which contains the 6.8 kilometre copper anomaly.
"We have decided to carry out a programme of pitting, sampling, and mapping which if successful, will confirm a significant copper anomaly, advance our geological understanding of the area, and prepare for follow up work including geophysics and drilling. This programme will also enable us to test the cobalt mineralisation of the area," said Chief Executive Paul Johnson.
Shares in Power Metal were trading 2.8% lower at 0.39 pence each on Wednesday in London.
