Photonstar Says Internet Of Things Security Patent Granted

18th Mar 2016 08:00

LONDON (Alliance News) - Photonstar LED Group PLC on Friday said it has received an Internet of Things secure commissioning patent in the UK, which will make the connecting of wireless devices to a network more secure.

The LED lighting manufacturer said it has received notice from the UK Intellectual Property Office that its application titled Wireless Nodes with Security Key has been granted.

Photonstar said the patent is targeted at its Internet of Things lighting, sensors and other devices employed in commercial applications where security vulnerabilities at the commissioning stage must be safeguarded.

Photonstar said the patent was key for enabling the connecting of wireless devices to a network without compromising the network security keys, adding it is a "critical element of the Halcyon and halcyonPRO2 wireless technology".

"We are delighted to receive grant of our first Internet of Things secure commissioning patent. Our halcyon and halcyonPRO intelligent wireless lighting systems have the potential to play a significant role as secure, scalable platforms for real world commercial Internet of Things applications," Chief Technology Officer Majd Zoorob said.
