LONDON (Alliance News) - Petrofac Ltd Wednesday said it has won a USD500 million contract from a subsidiary of Malaysia's national oil and gas company for a refinery package in the Pengerang project in Johor, Malaysia.
The FTSE 100-listed oil services company said the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning contract has been awarded by PRPC Refinery & Cracker Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Petroliam Nasional Berhad, known as Petronas.
The deal is worth more than USD500 million and was secured by Petrofac following a competitive tender process and includes three sulphur recovery units, two amine regeneration units, two sour water stripping units, a liquid sulphur storage unit and a sulphur solidification package unit.
The Pengerang project is the largest liquid-based greenfield downstream scheme in Malaysia.
"This award represents another significant step in building our capability in the Asia-Pacific region," said Subramanian Sarma, managing director of Petrofac's Onshore Engineering & Construction unit.
"Malaysia is a core country for us, Petronas a key customer and we have a substantial physical presence in the country to support our ongoing projects and future aspirations," Sarma added.
Petrofac shares were up 1.0% in opening trade on Wednesday to 1,103.00 pence.
