Petrofac Wins Massive USD1.65 Billion United Arab Emirates Contract

18th Feb 2020 10:00

(Alliance News) - Oil and gas industry services provider Petrofac Ltd on Tuesday said it was awarded USD1.65 billion worth of contracts with Abu Dhabi National Oil Co.

The two engineering, procurement, transportation, construction, commissioning, and offshore installation contracts cover Abu Dhabi National Oil Co's Dalma Gas Development Project at Arzanah island and its surrounding offshore fields.

Dalma is located approximately 140 kilometres off the north-west coast of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. It is part of the Ghasha ultra-sour gas concession and, therefore, of Abu Dhabi National Oil Co's goal to make the United Arab Emirates self-sufficient in terms of gas.

The work scope is made of of offshore packages, the first of which is worth USD1.07 billion and is for gas processing facilities at Arzanah island. This is a 33-month lump-sum contract and "the scope of work includes inlet facilities with gas processing and compression units, power generation units, utilities and other associated infrastructure."

The other package, this time a 30-month lump sum contract, is worth USD591 million and involves Petrofac leading a joint venture with SapuraKencana HL Sdn Bhd Abu Dhabi. It involves "three new well-head platforms, removal and replacement of an existing topside, new pipelines, subsea umbilicals, composite and fibre optic cables.".

George Salibi, chief operating officer of Engineering & Construction at Petrofac, said: "Petrofac has a strong track record in the UAE, with a presence here since 1991 and around 3,000 staff in country. We are fully committed to supporting continued and sustainable investment in Abu Dhabi's oil and gas industry through our strategic focus on maximising local delivery, and are pleased that our approach will generate substantial in-country value for the local economy. These latest contract awards build on our existing relationship with [Abu Dhabi National Oil Co] group companies and we look forward to delivering this mega project in a safe, successful and sustainable manner."

Shares in Petrofac were up 1.3% at 369.60 pence on Tuesday in London.
