(Alliance News) - PayPoint PLC on Wednesday said it has agreed to sell its Romanian business, PayPoint Services SRL and PayZone SA, to Innova Capital for GBP47 million cash
The sale is consistent with PayPoint's focus on its key strategic priorities and the delivery of enhanced growth and value in its core UK markets, which is where the net proceeds will be invested, the company explained.
Chief Executive Officer Nick Wiles said: "We have decided to sell the Romanian business to focus on our core U.K. markets and the delivery of our strategic priorities for future growth in these markets. We believe that Innova is the right owner to take the business forward and we wish PayPoint Romania and Innova well for the future."
In the year ended March 31, PayPoint Romania delivered gross revenue of GBP69.7 million, adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation of GBP7.3 million and pretax profit of GBP6.8 million. Gross assets of PayPoint Romania at March 31 were GBP48.5 million.
Shares in the payment services provider were down 1.7% at 508.43 pence each in London on Wednesday morning.
