(Alliance News) - PayPoint PLC and Randox Laboratories Ltd announced on Thursday that they have expanded their partnership to boost access to Covid-19 testing for travellers returning to the UK, which will launch on Friday.
This follows the UK government's new arrival requirements for day two testing, announced on Wednesday, to take effect on Sunday.
The expanded partnership will provide more access to low-cost testing, by enabling people to order a Randox test online for click and collect at a store within the Collect+ network, which PayPoint took full ownership of in 2020. The service will initially be available in 5000 locations, and will roll out soon to 10,000 locations nationwide.
From mid-January, customers in Scotland and North West England will also be able to pick up a test from 2500 locations, without ordering online in advance.
The service will be offered in partnership with major retailers in the region, including Scotmid Co-Operative Society Ltd and Spar Ltd.
Nick Wiles, chief executive at Hertfordshire-based payment service PayPoint said: "Our expanded partnership with Randox will deliver yet another vital service to help keep people safe in communities across the UK. Consumer convenience and accessibility are at the very heart of what we do and this is another example of our agility, responsiveness and the great relationships we have with our retailer partners in the ever-changing landscape across the UK."
Shares in PayPoint were down 0.5% to 659.00 pence each in London on Thursday afternoon.
