Orient Telecoms To Continue Investments As Loss Narrows In First Half

(Alliance News) - Orient Telecoms PLC on Monday said it plans to increase the number of partnerships in Malaysia as its performance improved in the first half of its current financial year.

The telecommunication services provider said its pretax loss narrowed to GBP32,990 in the six months to the end of September compared to the GBP124,198 loss reported a year ago as income multiplied to GBP266,455 from GBP39,867.

"Since the listing of the company, we have been extensively working on the marketing and sales related activities in the region," said Co-Founder Sayed Ali.

Orient Telecoms said it has signed more than 15 deals including some of the "very high-profile" customers in Malaysia during the period.

Looking ahead, the company said its objective for 2020 will not only be higher revenue and profit, but also to increase the partnerships in region.

Therefore, Orient Telecom said it plans to continue to invest on its marketing and awareness initiative.

The stock was untraded in London on Monday. last closing at 10.75 pence a share.
