LONDON (Alliance News) - Life sciences company OptiBiotix Health PLC on Tuesday said it has successfully incorporated its weight-management formulation in yoghurt.
The company said it incorporated the formulation into yoghurts produced by NIZO Food Research BV. It said a tasting panel reported the products had a "smooth feel and taste and had the appearance of conventional yoghurts".
OptiBiotix said further patent filings for the formulation are underway and said it will soon start talks with potential partners to carry out nutritional studies before manufacturing and distribution a portfolio of products.
"These studies are encouraging and show early potential for incorporating OptiBiotix's proprietary weight management formulation into dairy products such as yoghurts. This supports our aim of extending the range of food types which can incorporate our weight management formulation, increasing the number of products and partnering opportunities," said OptiBiotix Chief Executive Officer Stephen O'Hara.
OptiBiotix shares were up 3.4% to 10.47 pence mid-morning on Tuesday.
