OptiBiotix Health Files New Patent For Microbial Protein Detection

19th May 2016 10:05

LONDON (Alliance News) - OptiBiotix Health PLC on Thursday said it has filed a new patent covering technology from its skin division used to identify microbial proteins.

The proteins the technology identifies have the potential to prevent health care-acquired infections caused by antimicrobial-resistant superbugs, such as MRSA.

"We are pleased to announce the filing of this patent which protects the recent advances we have made in identifying microbial proteins which have the potential to prevent HCAIs caused by AMR superbugs," said Chief Executive Stephen O'Hara.

"These proteins prevent skin damage, stop pathogenic bacteria from growing, and most importantly prevent it from reattaching, reducing the risk of reinfection with AMR superbugs," he added.

Shares in OptiBiotix were down 0.3% to 81.00 pence Thursday.
