LONDON (Alliance News) - Ophir Energy PLC on Tuesday said it has completed a deal to acquire four production sharing contracts in Indonesia from Niko Resources.
The contracts acquired in the deal cover the West Papua IV, Aru, Kofiau and Halmahera-Kofiau deepwater sites in Indonesia, FTSE 250-listed Ophir said.
Ophir is also in the process of buying two further contracts, North Makassar Strait and North Ganal, from Niko,
"The acquisition of these highly prospective deepwater production sharing contracts continues the build-out of our operations in South East Asia. Our new Jakarta office, formerly Salamander's, will headquarter the operating teams and will be complimented by Ophir's exploration team. The combination and rationalisation of the former Salamander and Niko operations in Indonesia will provide additional cost synergies to those that we reported as part of the Salamander acquisition," said Ophir Chief Executive Nick Cooper.
