LONDON (Alliance News) - OPG Power Ventures PLC Tuesday said it has completed hydraulic testing of a boiler at its 180 megawatt Chennai IV plant, meaning that equipment on site can begin being connected towards commissioning trials.
The AIM-listed developer and operator of power plants in India said the test means that the turbine, generator and instrumentation that are already on site can be interconnected and the unit insulated, a process which usually takes around four months.
The company said that once the process is complete it should start commissioning trials as transmission infrastructure for the project is already in place.
OPG Power Ventures also said that construction activities at its 300 megawatt Gujarat site are nearing completion, with installation of both turbines and the generator instrumentation significantly advanced.
The company said a state-owned electricity transmission company is preparing its high voltage transmission infrastructure including transmission lines for evacuation of power from the Gujarat plant and it expects commissioning to start in the last quarter of 2014.
OPG shares were up 2.8% to 104.30 pence on Tuesday.
