OMG Unit Awarded UK MOD Research Deals

19th Mar 2014 09:45

LONDON (Alliance News) - OMG PLC said Wednesday its defence and security business, 2d3 Sensing, has been awarded five projects for the UK MOD's Defence Science and Technology Laboratory.

OMG said the unit has been awarded, and is making progress on the projects, which have a total value of around GBP350,000.

The image technology group said that the contracts build on 2d3 Sensing's relationship with the UK's Ministry of Defence; it has previously provided the department with applied research solutions.

OMG said the projects include short-term proofs of concept through the Centre for Defence Enterprise and FATS4, through to involvement in a long-term research programme managed for DSTL by an industrial consortium.

2d3 Sensing will progress the application of state-of-the-art computer vision applications and metadata-rich media capabilities to solve Defence challenges and looks forward to further developing OMG's relationship with the UK MOD, it said.

"We are very pleased to have been selected to work on a number of projects with the UK MOD. It is testament to the strength of our relationship and our technology that we have been chosen for both short and long-term programmes. We look forward to continuing our work with the UK MOD and bringing our cutting-edge applied research solutions to an increasingly diverse range of projects," said Nick Bolton, CEO of OMG.

Shares in OMG were trading 0.92% lower at 27 pence per share Wednesday morning.
