Oilex Successfully Restarts Fracking Operations At Cambay-77H

4th Jul 2014 13:49

LONDON (Alliance News) - Oilex Ltd Friday said stage 2 fracking operations at the Cambay-77H well in India have been completed successfully, following repairs to its machinery after a small leak earlier this month.

The oil and gas exploration and development company said results from the stage 2 fracking was similar to its stage 1 frack during June, when gas was detected at the surface and elevated overpressure of over 5,000 pounds per square inch was measured, showing an increase of 670 pounds per square inch.

The company said that there has been no drop in the pressure levels since the re-start of fracking operations.

Oilex said on Wednesday that during a system wide pressure test to 9,300 pounds per square inch ahead of its stage 2 operations, a leak developed, and the company opted to replace faulty components with spares at the site before proceeding further.

On Friday, the company said that as a precaution in case of further delays, it has mobilised spare equipment to the site, which will standby in case of any problems.

Cambay-77H is located adjacent to the Cambay-76H horizontal well that underwent a successful multiple-staged fracture stimulation programme along its 633 metre lateral section in 2012 but was suspended prior to testing due to downhole mechanical problems. Oilex said the Cambay-77H well design incorporates all of the key operational and technical learnings that have arisen from a forensic engineering analysis of Cambay-76H by multiple expert parties.

Oilex shares were up 3.9% to 6.60 pence on Friday.
