LONDON (Alliance News) - Oilex Ltd Tuesday said the 4.5 inch production casing has been set and cemented at its Cambay-77H well, part of the Cambay Production Sharing Contract in Cambay Basin, Gujarat, India.
Cambay-77H is located adjacent to the Cambay-76H horizontal well that underwent a successful multiple-staged fracture stimulation programme along its 633m lateral section in 2012 but was suspended prior to testing due to downhole mechanical problems. Oilex said the Cambay-77H well design incorporates all of the key operational and technical learnings that have arisen from a forensic engineering analysis of Cambay-76H by multiple expert parties.
The firm said the wellbore is now secured for the fracture stimulation programme to commence while the Essar Land Rig #4 is currently preparing to demobilise from the site.
Oilex said this process may take up to three weeks, after which a further four weeks may be required to complete mobilisation of the fracture stimulation equipment, material and personnel in addition to the well test equipment and personnel.
"Drilling operations are now complete after approximately 23 operational days, excluding rig downtime compared to 30 days as previously announced," Managing Director Ron Miller said in a statement.
"We are encouraged by the amount of hydrocarbon-bearing reservoir penetrated as well as its apparent quality from the logs. We look forward to conducting the fracture stimulation programme and subsequent flow test to realise the full potential of this reservoir," he added.
Oilex shares were trading at 4.90 pence Tuesday morning, down 6.2%.
