LONDON (Alliance News) - Energy market regulator Ofgem on Wednesday said it is consulting on a request made by power grid operator National Grid PLC to recover costs on two contracts with SSE PLC and Drax Group PLC.
Ofgem said the contracts involve the ability of certain generators at the Fiddlers Ferry power station and the Drax power station to start up and provide electricity to the UK's power system without an external supply.
Ofgem said it set National Grid a cost target on these services and National Grid has spent significantly more than the agreed cap.
As a result, National Grid has applied to Ofcom to recover the costs from SSE and Drax.
Shares in National Grid were up 0.1% to 981.00 pence at the open.
