Ofgem Awards Balfour Beatty Consortium Humber Gateway Contract

24th Sep 2015 06:59

LONDON (Alliance News) - UK energy markets regulator Ofgem on Thursday said it has selected a Balfour Beatty PLC-led consortium as the preferred bidder to own and operate the offshore transmission link for the Humber Gateway windfarm for the next twenty years.

The consortium, which involves the FTSE 250 construction firm's Balfour Beatty Investments Ltd arm and Equitix Ltd, the infrastructure investor, won the preferred bidder status following a competitive tender.

The offshore wind farm, located in the North Sea off the coast of East Yorkshire, will comprise 73 wind turbines and has a total installed capacity of 220 megawatt.

Ofgem said the estimated value of the transmission assets is around GBP173.3 million and are currently owned and have been constructed by E.ON Climate and Renewables UK Humber Wind Ltd.
