(Alliance News) - Nvidia Corp's Chief Executive Officer Jensen Huang meets with UK Technology Secretary Liz Kendall on Wednesday, Sky News reported the evening before.
Huang, who travelled to the UK to speak to the Cambridge Union Society and receive an award at the Queen Elizabeth Prize of Engineering, has met with Kendall before.
Santa Clara, California-based Nvidia is the world's largest supplier of chips for artificial intelligence, and is the first company to be valued at USD5 trillion, Sky noted, adding that this is more than the UK's annual gross domestic product.
It added that Nvidia previously announced a GBP2 billion UK investment in June, at a meeting with Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
Kendall was previously work & pensions secretary from mid-2024 to September, 2025, when she became secretary of state for science, innovation & technology amid a cabinet reshuffle prompted by the resignation of Angela Rayner as deputy prime minister.
"Ahead of the meeting, industry sources have said they want to know more from the government about the potential locations of the next wave of zones, and what benefits they will actually bring," Sky said. "One insider also called for the government to take more action on energy prices that they say are "extremely prohibitive" to [Starmer's goal of becoming an AI 'superpower'."
Sky said it had approached the government for comment, and that Nvidia has declined to comment on the matter.
Shares in Nvidia were down 1.4% in pre-market trading at USD196.00 each in New York on Tuesday.
