20th Jan 2015 14:45

LONDON (Alliance News) - North River Resources PLC said Tuesday that it has appointed James Beams, previously chief financial officer of Anglo American PLC's copper division, as managing director.

Current Managing Director Martin French is stepping down from his role. North River said that French had opted to step down so that it can "can bring in more technical and operational expertise as it enters its next phase, and will be assisting in the transition."

The company said that optimisation studies are continuing at its Namib Lead-Zinc Mine in Namibia to further enhance the economics demonstrated in its definitive feasibility study published in November 2014, and that recent positive drill results at the site have further highlighted the potential to extend the initial mine life to over three and a half years.

It has appointed Andrew Little as a project director for the Namib project, and also added Keith Marshall and Ken Sangster as non-executive directors.

Shares in North River Resources are trading down 3.1% at 0.475 pence Tuesday morning.
