Norcros Picks Former Dairy Crest Boss Allen As Chair-Designate

11th Mar 2020 11:01

(Alliance News) - Bathroom and kitchen products firm Norcros PLC on Wednesday announced the appointment as former Dairy Crest PLC boss Mark Allen as chair-designate.

Allen will join on May 1 as a non-executive director. Current Chair Martin Towers will be stepping down at the annual general meeting in July after nine years on the board.

Once Towers has departed, Allen will take up the role of chair at Wilmslow, Cheshire-based Norcros.

Allen was CEO at Cathedral City cheese-maker Dairy Crest between 2006 until 2019. Dairy Crest was purchased last year by Canada's Saputo Inc for GBP975 million.

Norcros Senior Independent Director David McKeith commented: "I am delighted to welcome Mark Allen as a non-executive director of Norcros. His broad range of skills and experience will be of significant benefit to the board. The board and I very much look forward to working with him over the coming years.

"Nick Kelsall and I would also like to put on record the board's appreciation of Martin Towers' valued contribution as a non-executive director of Norcros since 2011. As board chair from November 2012, Martin has steered the company through a period of considerable change, and profitable growth."

Kelsall is Norcros's chief executive, having served in the role since 2011.

Norcros shares were 6.8% lower on Wednesday morning in London at a price of 190.53 pence each.
