Nighthawk Energy To Plug, Abandon Jackson Hole 1-32 Exploration Well

17th Jan 2014 09:54

LONDON (Alliance News) - US focused oil development and production company Nighthawk Energy PLC Friday said that drilling operations at the Jackson Hole 1-32 exploration well have been completed, and the drilling rig is now back on location at the Arikaree Creek oilfield.

In a update on drilling at its 100% controlled and operated Smoky Hill and Jolly Ranch projects in the Denver-Julesburg Basin, Colorado, the company said that the Jackson Hole 1-32 exploration well has been cored and logged, which has provided extensive new information on both the Pennsylvanian and Mississippian formations.

Nighthawk said that analysis of the new information will take time and with no further operations currently planned at this location, it has filed documentation with the Colorado State authorities to plug and abandon the well.

"It will take some time to fully analyse the data and we should not at this stage rule out revisiting this area at a future date," said Chairman Stephen Gutteridge in a statement.

Nighthawk also said that with the drilling rig now back on location at the Arikaree Creek oilfield, it will drill in quick succession the Big Sky 13-11 and Big Sky 5-11 wells. These wells are located due south and due north respectively of the recent successful Big Sky 12-11 well.

Shares in Nighthawk Energy were trading 6.3% lower at 9.60 pence per share Friday morning.
