NextEnergy Solar Fund Energises Staughton Subsidy-Free Power Plant

16th Dec 2019 12:08

(Alliance News) - NextEnergy Solar Fund Ltd said Monday it has energised the subsidy-free Staughton solar plant with an installed capacity of 50 megawatts-peak.

The plant is located on the border between Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire, and is expected to cover the yearly electricity demand of 15,000 UK households.

The electricity generated by Staughton will be bundled with NextEnergy's existing portfolio of generating plants and sold under sales contracts that are already in place.

The fund's overall portfolio of operating solar plants rose to 755 megawatt peak, spread across 90 solar plants.

Looking ahead, NextEnergy has started preparing the site of its next subsidy-free solar plant, High Garrett, for construction.

High Garrett is an 8.5 megawatt-peak extension to a 5MWp ROC asset known as Kentishes, which was acquired in 2016. High Garrett is expected to be completed in the first half of 2020.

Shares in NextEnergy Solar Fund - which is headquartered in St Peter Port, Guernsey - remained flat at 123.50 pence on Monday in London.
