LONDON (Alliance News) - New World Resources PLC Friday said it had suffered a fatality at the Karviná Mine of its OKD Czech mining subsidiary.
In a statement, the mining company said a 42-year-old worker died approximately 1,000 metres underground Thursday.
"An investigative committee comprising members of the District Mining Authority in Ostrava, Karviná Mine management, OKD management, the OKD Trade Unions representatives, and the Police of the Czech Republic is now conducting an enquiry into the accident," the company said in a statement.
In February, the company had noted the death of two miners during 2013. It said at that time that it is committed to achieving fatality-free operations.
New World Resources shares were down 0.8% at 33 pence Friday morning.
