New World Resources Reports Fall In First-Half Coal Production, Sales

LONDON (Alliance News) - New World Resources PLC Monday said coal production and sales both fell in the first half of 2015.

The coal miner operating in Central Europe said it produced 3.6 million tonnes of coal in the first half of 2015, which was down from 4.5 million tonnes in the same period a year earlier.

Coking coal sales in the period totalled under 2.1 million tonnes, down from 2.5 million tonnes a year earlier, whilst thermal coal sales came in at under 1.3 million tonnes, down from 1.5 million tonnes.

In the first half, New World averaged a coking coal price of EUR93 per tonne, which was up from EUR87 per tonne a year earlier, and a thermal coal price of EUR52 per tonne, which was down from EUR58 per tonne.

New World shares were down 7.6% to 0.577 pence per share on Monday morning.
