New J Sainsbury Appointments Include Former Unilever Marketing Chief

12th May 2020 11:23

(Alliance News) - J Sainsbury PLC on Tuesday said it has appointed two new non-executive directors, including a former chief marketing & communications officer at Unilever PLC.

Keith Weed, who spent 36 years at Unilever in various roles before he became marketing and communications chief, will join the supermarket's board at the start of July.

Joining him at the same time will be Tanuj Kapilashrami, the current group head of human resources at Standard Chartered PLC. She joined Standard Chartered in 2017, having spent the 17 years before that at HSBC "in key global and regional operational HR roles".

As previously disclosed, Matt Brittin and Jean Tomlin will be departing the Sainsbury board at the company's July 2 annual general meeting.

Chair Martin Scicluna said: "Keith is an exceptionally capable marketing and digital leader who has championed new ways of integrating sustainability into business and building brands with purpose. He will play an important role as we focus on helping our customers to live well for less. Tanuj is a thoughtful and energetic HR leader who has significant international insights. She will be an excellent addition to the board as we continue to adapt our business and support our colleagues in a rapidly changing marketplace."
