(Alliance PLC) - National Grid PLC on Thursday said that Paula Rosput Reynolds will replace Peter Gershon as chair on May 31.
Gershon has held the role since January 2012. In September 2020, the London-based operator of electricity and gas networks announced that he would step down and be replaced by Reynolds.
Reynolds joined the board as non-executive director and chair designate in January. She has over 25 years' experience in the energy industry, including roles at BP PLC and PG&E Corp, according to National Grid's website.
National Grid decided Gershon should stay until after it releases its full-year results on May 20.
The London-based company, a member of the FTSE 100 index, said Reynolds will become chair as it begins its "strategic repositioning" towards electricity and away from gas, which it announced last week with the acquisition of Western Power Distribution.
Mark Williamson, senior independent director of National Grid, said: "I would like to thank Sir Peter Gershon for his devoted chairmanship. We have all benefited considerably from his leadership, experience and wise counsel during a period of significant strategic transformation."
Shares were up 0.7% to 868.60 pence in London.
