LONDON (Alliance News) - National Grid PLC on Thursday announced the appointment of Microsoft General Manager for central & eastern Europe Amanda Mesler as a non-executive director, effective from May 17.
Mesler will be leaving her role at Microsoft in June, National Grid said.
Before that, Mesler was chief operating officer at Misys, a financial services software firm, and was also on the executive team at business consultants Logica PLC.
Chairman Peter Gershon said: "The board is delighted to appoint Amanda Mesler as an independent non-executive director. Amanda brings a wealth of experience in different sectors to National Grid's board in particular in the area of the application of technology.
"Amanda's appointment is part of our ongoing commitment to build and maintain an effective board which is high quality in terms of expertise, diversity and background. As a result, shareholders will continue to benefit from strong governance and stewardship."
Shares were down 1.7% on Thursday at 812.20 pence each.
