(Alliance News) - Utility National Grid PLC on Tuesday announced the appointment of Liz Hewitt as a non-executive director effective from the start of next year.
Hewitt is currently the senior independent director at FTSE 100 turnaround specialist Melrose Industries PLC and a non-executive director at pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk A/S.
She has previously served as a non-executive director at Synergy Health PLC and as a non-executive director at estate agents Savills PLC.
Peter Gershon, chair of National Grid, said: "Liz brings extensive business, financial and investment experience to the board having held a number of senior roles in international companies across a number of sectors. Liz will be a great asset to our audit, nominations, and safety, environment and health committees and we look forward to welcoming her to the board."
In a separate statement, National Grid said the interim president of its US business, Badar Khan, purchased 2,000 shares in the company at a price of USD57.31 per share, totalling USD114,620.
National Grid shares closed 0.1% lower at 878.00 pence on Tuesday in London.
