14th Dec 2015 07:43

LONDON (Alliance News) - Transport operator National Express Group PLC on Monday said it has started operating its two German rail contracts on the Rhine Munster Express route.

National Express won the two operating contracts in February 2013. They were awarded for 15 years and which will deliver around EUR1.6 billion in revenue to the company over their terms.

"Germany is Europe's largest rail market and is an important part of our strategy. I am delighted that after significant planning and preparation we have started running services," said Chief Executive Dean Finch.

"The German rail market presents significant further opportunity for National Express. We are working on the start-up of our next two German rail contracts on the Rhine-Ruhr Express," Finch added.
