LONDON (Alliance News) - Rail and bus operator National Express PLC Monday said it has been shortlisted to run the Berlin Ringbahn, the railway line around the centre of Berlin that is currently operated by Deutsche Bahn.
"Following on from our recent success in winning two contracts to operate regional rail services in North-Rhine Westphalia, it confirms that our experience as the operator of the UK's leading franchise is recognised internationally," Chief Executive Dean Finch said in a statement.
The company in February won two German 15-year rail contracts for rail services around Cologne and Bonn. It won both from Deutsche Bahn.
National Express shares were down 0.4% at 255.3 pence Monday morning.
