MySale Picks Permanent Chair As It Shuffles Board Members

3rd Dec 2019 15:52

(Alliance News) - Asia Pacific-focused online retailer MySale Group PLC on Tuesday said interim Non-Executive Chair Charles Butler is to take the role permanently.

Sydney-based MySale sold its UK website in May for GBP1.5 million, as it moved to focus on Australia and New Zealand. It also has operations in south-east Asia.

Butler, who was previously a non-executive director at MySale, is taking up the permanent role of chair with immediate effect. He replaces Iain McDonald, who stepped down a year ago.

This comes as MySale announced the appointment of two new non-executives, Dow Famulak and Wally Muhieddine, and the departure of current Non-Executive Director David Mortimer.

Famulak was executive director at fashion firm Global Brands Group between 2014 and 2017, while Muhieddine is an "expert" in media and marketing, serving as managing partner at media buying and planning agency Advertising Advantage.

Chief Executive Carl Jackson said: "We are delighted to announce these appointments to the board and very much look forward to working with Dow and Wally. They bring invaluable global experience in working with high profile brands to develop their marketing strategy and establish their distribution networks, which will be crucial as we execute our 'ANZ First' strategy and pivot the business to an inventory light, marketplace platform.

"Charles has been a great contributor to the board and I look forward to continuing to draw on his experience in future years. The group now has a fundamentally different structure, operating on a debt free basis and with a strengthened platform from which we can focus on the acceleration of our strategy."

"On behalf of the board, I would like to thank David for his contribution to the business during his tenure over the last five years: his guidance and insight has been indispensable," Jackson added.

MySale shares were 0.2% higher on Tuesday in London at a price of 3.40 pence each.
