LONDON (Alliance News) - Mwana Africa PLC Tuesday said it has received further calls for a general meeting to allow shareholders to vote on changes relating to the company's non-executive directors.
According to the company, the notices requisitioning a general meeting were received from Ian Dearing and other shareholders.
"The company is currently investigating the validity of this requisition and to the extent that it is valid and not withdrawn, currently intends, in accordance with section 304 of the act, to call such a meeting within 21 days of receipt and to provide for the general meeting to be held on a date not more than 28 days after the date of the notice of meeting," Mwana Africa said in a statement.
Mwana Africa advised shareholders to take no action for the time being.
Mwana Africa has previously said that neither China International Mining Group Ltd, which holds a 21.4% stake in Mwana, nor Non-Executive Director Yat Hoi Ning, who holds a 7.6% stake, are requisitioners.
The company's shares closed down 2% at 1.72 pence per share on Tuesday.
