Mulberry Appoints Thierry Andretta As Chief Executive

12th Mar 2015 08:34

LONDON (Alliance News) - Luxury handbag maker Mulberry Group PLC on Thursday said it has appointed Thierry Andretta as its new chief executive.

Andretta will take up the role on April 7, at which point Godfrey Davis will give up the interim CEO role and revert to his position as chairman.

Andretta has held a number of senior roles at the likes of Lanvin, Moschino, Gucci and LVMH in the past and is the former CEO of Italian luxury jewellery brand Buccellati.

"I am delighted that Thierry has agreed to become chief executive. He has a wealth of fashion and luxury goods experience and an ability to drive our ambitious plans for international growth," Davis said.

Mulberry came under scrutiny under the control of former Chief Executive Bruno Guillon, who left the company in March 2014 after presiding over two years of profit decline. Guillon, who joined the company in 2012 from luxury French brand Hermes, was blamed for pricing the retailer out of the market, by raising its prices too quickly.

In November, Mulberry named Johnny Coca as its new creative director. Coca won't be joining Mulberry until July 8, but then will be responsible for all of Mulberry's collections. Coca is currently head design director at French luxury goods brand Céline.

Shares in Mulberry were untraded on Thursday, having last traded at 856.83 pence.
