Motive Television Develops Mobile Personal Video Recorder

2nd Jul 2015 07:15

LONDON (Alliance News) - Motive Television PLC Thursday said it has developed a personal video recorder for use on mobile devices and tablets, which will allow users to record programmes a week in advance and watch them at a later date.

The technology provider to broadcasters and pay television operators said that the new product provides the ability to time shift over-the-air programmes on tablets and mobile devices, and works with the TabletTV app and TPod in the US.

Users can schedule to record programmes up to seven days in advance and then watch them for their personal use at a later time, Motive said, which goes further than TabletTV's ability to permit pausing, playing and recording current programmes.

Mobile PVR will be introduced as a Beta version this month to existing users of TabletTV in the US and made available to the general market in September. In the future, Motive plans to licence its Mobile PVR software to other vendors of consumer electronics and app providers.

"The development and launch of Mobile PVR is another first for Motive. It has taken significant man-years to develop a reliable software-based video recorder that works in the mobile device environment. This new product enhances the value of TabletTV and confirms Motive's position as a market leader in mobile viewing of television," Chief Executive Leonard M Fertig said in a statement.

Shares in Motive were trading up 5.2% at 0.00710 pence early Thursday.
