LONDON (Alliance News) - Mitchells & Butlers PLC(MAB.L, MLB), an operator of managed restaurants and pubs, Thursday said its total sales in the first 51 week period increased 2.1 percent. The company opened 16 new sites in the financial year, and also converted or expanded 6 sites.
Like-for-like for the 42 weeks to July 20 increased 0.7 percent. In the 9 weeks period to September 21, like-for-like sales decreased 1 percent. In the 51 weeks to September 21, it increased 0.4 percent.
"Based on detailed consumer insight, we have focused our brands on delivering improved performance across a small number of priority areas. These include further improvements in team engagement, operational practices and guest service, which will deliver the next stage of growth." Alistair Darby, Chief Executive said.
Mitchells & Butlers said that the new sites development for fiscal 2014 and 2015 have been progressing well, and that it expects to open around 50 sites a year over the medium term.
