(Alliance News) - MicroSalt PLC on Friday announced it has received patent approval for its low-sodium salt compositions in China, Mexico and Australia, as it waits for updates on other pending applications.
The London-based provider of low-sodium salt products said it has received a certificate of invention patent in China for its 'Improved Low Sodium Salt Compositions'.
The company also received a notice of allowance in Mexico on September 4 for its Mexican patent application of the same name, which it expects to issue after payment of final issuance and initial annuity fees.
MicroSalt in August had an Australian patent application accepted by the Australian Patent Office for the same salt compositions, which has initiated a three-month opposition period. If the application is not opposed, the company expects an Australian patent to issue at the end of the three-month period.
These three patent applications all claim priority to its US patent application.
Chief Executive Officer Rick Guiney said: "We are very pleased to witness the expansion of our intellectual property portfolio into some of the largest sodium markets in the world. We have made commercial inroads with customers in Asia, Europe and Australia and we see this development as very timely."
MicroSalt currently has more patent applications pending in Canada, Hong Kong, Chile, Japan, Europe, Brazil, India and Russia.
Shares in MicroSalt were down 2.9% at 33.00 pence each in London on Friday afternoon.
