5th Mar 2019 11:37

LONDON (Alliance News) - Microsaic Systems PLC on Tuesday said it has jointly published bioprocessing data with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Microsaic shares were trading 22% higher on Tuesday at 1.40 pence each.

The spectrometry instruments developer said the results of the collaboration with MIT in advancing point of need bioprocessing analysis will be showcased at the International Foundation of Process Analytical Chemistry 2019 in Washington, US.

This latest phase in the collaboration looks at the effects of storage and time conditions, feeding strategies, and media type on protein quality, and compares frozen and fresh cell cultures.

"Traditional mass spectrometers are large, expensive, and require operation by specialists in centralised laboratories," explained Microsaic Chief Executive Glenn Tracey

"Microsaic is working closely with Massachusetts Institute of Technology, at the feasibility of using deployable and compact mass spectrometry for the direct analysis of upstream cell cultures to show a compelling user scenario for our technology," added Tracey.
