LONDON (Alliance News) - Theme park and attractions operator Merlin Entertainments PLC said Monday it has entered into a strategic partnership with US animation studio DreamWorks Animation to create a "Shrek and friends" based attraction.
Merlin Entertainments said the first attraction on the popular animation character is planned to open alongside Merlin's London cluster on the South Bank in the summer of 2015, with a total of six attractions planned in the next nine years as it accelerates its pipeline.
Merlin said average investment and returns are expected to be similar to the current midway roll out programme.
The company said the Shrek attraction will take visitors through a live interactive adventure featuring Shrek, Fiona, Donkey, Puss in Boots and other favourites from the franchise.
Shares in Merlin Entertainments were trading 0.8% lower Monday afternoon, at 372.40 pence per share.
