Mendell Helium hails successful test of water disposal well in Kansas

19th May 2025 17:23

(Alliance News) - Mendell Helium PLC on Monday said operations to re-enter M3 Helium Corp's Brobee salt water disposal well have successfully completed.

The Perth, Scotland-based helium production company said it has an option to buy Kansas, US-based helium producer M3 Helium, which owns an interest in nine wells.

It said the Brobee well was successfully tested as being able to accommodate over 4,500 barrels of water per day at 640 pounds per square inch.

The firm said it expects this to be in excess of the capacity required for production plans at the Rost 1-26 well in Kansas, as well as potential future water production from offset wells to Rost.

Mendell said M3 Helium will now apply to the state of Kansas for a permit to dispose water through the Brobee well.

The firm said wider work at the Rost recompletion project "continues to proceed as planned".

"The amount of water disposal achieved at the upper zones of the Brobee [salt water disposal] exceeded our expectations and, as a result, it will no longer be necessary to test the lower zones representing a considerable saving in time and money. The team on site are doing an excellent job and, with the arrival of the [electric submersible pump] at Rost expected this week, we remain on track and ready to begin the next phase of works," said Mendell Helium Chief Executive Officer and M3 Helium Chair Nick Tulloch.

Shares in Mendell Helium were up 9.1% to 3.00 pence on the Aquis Exchange on Monday afternoon.
