Meggitt To Supply Engine Parts For F-22 Raptor And F-35 Jets

21st Jan 2019 08:21

LONDON (Alliance News) - Aerospace and defence company Meggitt PLC said Monday it has secured a USD750 million contract to continue supply engine components for US military F-22 Raptor and F-35 fighter jets.

Shares in Meggitt were up 0.8% at 505.80 pence each in morning trade.

The company has signed a 10-year agreement with US-based aircraft engine manufacturer Pratt & Whitney to continue the supply of advanced composite components for the F119 and F135 engines which power the F-22 Raptor and F-35 aircraft. Pratt & Whitney is a unit of United Technologies Corp.

The agreement extends Meggitt's existing relationship with Pratt & Whitney in the supply of advanced engine composites for military and civil engine applications.

"These components will be produced in our new state-of-the-art facility in San Diego, California which opened in August 2018 to support the rapid growth in demand for advanced engine composite components across the aerospace industry," said Meggitt Chief Executive Tony Wood.

In December, Meggitt won a USD15 million contract from aircraft maintenance services provider Turkish Technic. The contract covered spares supply and maintenance activities across the entire range of Meggitt products and services.
