McColl's Retail Appoints Welcome Break CEO Bell As Finance Head

4th Jan 2019 09:21

LONDON (Alliance News) - McColl's Retail Group PLC said Friday it has appointed Welcome Break Ltd boss Robbie Bell as chief financial officer, effective January 17.

The convenience shop operator said Bell is moving on from his current position as chief executive of Welcome Break following its takeover by Dublin-based, London-listed Applegreen PLC. Bell was appointed CFO of the motorway service operator in 2017 before taking on the role of CEO in early 2018.

"I am delighted to welcome someone of Robbie's calibre and expertise to the board. With such a wealth of senior experience in retail and finance, he will add significant strength to the team. I am confident Robbie will make a valuable contribution as we deliver our strategy to enhance our neighbourhood convenience offer," said McColl's Chief Executive Jonathan Miller.

Bell replaces Simon Fuller, who is joining Daily Mirror newspaper publisher Reach PLC as CFO and company secretary on March 1. Fuller will leave McColl's on February 22, following a handover period.

Reach, in a separate announcement, confirmed Fuller's joining date and said that Vijay Vaghela will step down on the same date as finance head and company secretary.

Shares in McColl's were down 2.5% at 54.60 pence each on Friday morning. Reach shares were up 0.9% at 63.50p. Applegreen was up 2.5% at 527.00p.
