MC Mining resumes operations at Uitkomst colliery in KwaZulu-Natal

19th Jul 2021 11:48

(Alliance News) - MC Mining Ltd on Monday announced that earlier in the day operations at its Uitkomst colliery have resumed.

The 70%-owned colliery had been suspended on Tuesday last week, pending a resolution of the civil unrest which had spread throughout the KwaZulu-Natal province in South Africa.

The suspension of operations had led to the loss of three and a half days of run of mine coal production, equal to 5,600 tonnes.

Looking ahead, MC Mining is assessing plans with the objective of recovering some or all of the forgone production.

Shares in MC Mining were down 4.8% at 5.00 pence in London on Monday, while its Johannesburg shares were untraded at ZAR1.13.
