LONDON (Alliance News) - Retailer Marks & Spencer Group PLC said Monday it appointed Katie Bickerstaffe and Pip McCrostie in the role of non-executive directors.
The two will be formally appointed to the board following the company's annual general meeting on July 10.
Bickerstaffe has experience in retail transformation, having worked in a variety of functions in leading UK retailers, M&S said, and will help in the first phase of its transformation programme.
McCrostie, who worked in finance for accountants Ernst & Young, will bring financial and analytical skills, M&S said.
Chairman Archie Norman said: "As we embark on the first phase of our transformation programme we are building a cohesive and engaged board with deep and relevant skills in retail and business change."
In November 2016, Marks & Spencer announced a plan to rejig its stores to focus on its strong food business. As part of this, it planned to reposition around a quarter of its clothing & home space through a combination of closures, downsizes, relocations and conversions to food-only stores.
Marks & Spencer shares were trading up 0.3% early Monday morning at 292.60 pence.
