LONDON (Alliance News) - Marks & Spencer Group PLC said Tuesday it appointed former J Sainsbury Chief Executive Justin King as non-executive director from January.
King led Sainsbury's for over 10 years. Prior to that, he was "one of the pioneers" of the development of Simply Food at M&S and previously was part of the leadership team responsible for the turnaround of Walmart Inc-owned Asda.
"He therefore brings in-depth experience of retail transformation and operations as well as a good historic understanding of the M&S business and values," the company said.
King will continued to serve on the board of Terra Firma PLC as vice chairman.
Marks & Spencer shares were trading up 0.7% at 277.60 pence each.
