LONDON (Alliance News) - FTSE 100 miner and commodities trader Glencore PLC said Friday the long-standing head of its agriculture unit will retire in September to be replaced by division insider and regional boss David Mattiske.
Glencore Agriculture Chief Executive Chris Mahoney will step down after 17 years in the role but will remain involved in the business as a non-executive director.
"I am proud to have played a part in the significant development of Glencore Agriculture over the last 20 years," Mahoney said. "In that time it has grown to become a truly global business, underpinned by the quality of its operations and the people that run them."
Mahoney will be replaced by Mattiske who has been at Glencore Agriculture for the last 13 years. He is currently the regional director for Europe, Asia, Australia & New Zealand.
Mattiske explained he was "privileged to be given this opportunity to build on the significant achievements Chris and the team have made to date. Our focus will remain on being the partner of choice for our thousands of growers and customers around the world."
Mahoney added the appointment of Mattiske "highlights the strength of our succession planning and I wish him and the executive team every success for the future."
