London Stock Exchange strikes collaboration deal with China's ICBC

30th Jan 2026 10:40

(Alliance News) - London Stock Exchange Group PLC on Friday said it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Industrial & Commercial Bank of China Ltd to strengthen long-term strategic cooperation.

The London-based exchange operator and data provider said the agreement is to strengthen cooperation across global markets, data and analytics, cross-border renminbi, sustainable finance and financial innovation.

The agreement will broaden the partnership between the two institutions, creating a framework for expanded collaboration across capital markets, trading, clearing, data services, RMB business, and emerging technologies.

Fiona Bassett, Chief Executive Officer of FTSE Russell, said the deal combines ICBC's scale with LSEG's global market and data capabilities to create new opportunities for issuers and investors.

ICBC Vice President Zhang Weiwu said: "We look forward to further deepening our relationship with LSEG, jointly advancing financial innovation, market connectivity and cross-border RMB development, and to delivering concrete outcomes for UK-China cooperation and the broader global financial market ecosystem."

The MoU was signed in Beijing during UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer's visit to China.

Shares in London Stock Exchange Group were up 0.5% at 8,160.00 pence on Friday morning in London.
