LiDCO Says Study Supports Its Monitors For Post Surgery Programmes

1st May 2014 10:53

LONDON (Alliance News) - LiDCO Group PLC Thursday noted a study that it said showed that an enhanced recovery after surgery programme using its haemodynamic monitors reduced length of hospital stay and incidences of urinary tract infections.

The study, by the Enhanced Recovery Study Group at Duke University of North Carolina, was published in a paper in the "Anesthesia & Anaglesia" journal.

The study collected data from patients undergoing open or laparoscopic colorectal surgery. In it, 142 patients in an enhanced recovery after surgery programme were compared to 99 patients in standard care. The study showed that length of stay, incidences of urinary tract infections, and readmission rates were reduced in patients in the programme compared to the traditional group.

The programme used either LiDCO's LiDCOrapid or Deltex Medical Group PLC's Oesophageal Doppler monitors for blood pressure.

Shares in LiDCO were trading down 2.1% at 23.00 pence Thursday morning. Deltex Medical shares were trading down 0.7% at 11.43 pence.
